About Us

WELCOME
to our National  Union...............

The PUKKO-
Philippine Union of Karate and Kobudo Organizations is a national umbrella organization of  old and young  practitioners, teachers and organization leaders of both the Traditional Arts of Okinawa Karate and Kobudo and the "modern sport karate",  organized for the purpose of providing an alternative forum where such martial arts advocates of varying systems and styles can gather together and practice-share and collectively endeavor to enhance the promotion and propagation of  respective systems of such martial arts and sports discipline devoid of politics and discrimination and guided by the traditional martial arts values of Honor and Integrity.

The major group-styles that comprise the PUKKO include the Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate (Kyudokan, Matsumura.Shorinryu and Shidokan systems), the Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate (Meibukan and Seidokan systems), Shotokan Karate (LSS-ISKF), Shito Ryu Karate (Seikokai) and Ryukyu Kobudo of the Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinko Kai (Okinawa).

PUKKO is a regular Affiliated-Member entity of the WUKO World Union of Karatedo Organizations.  Apart from this, Founder-member organizations and Senior Associate Members of PUKKO are also members of their respective International Styles Federations/Organizations which they represent in the Philippines.

The PUKKO's Karate sporting activities are governed by a distinct set of  rules consonant with the WUKO Statutes and Rules of Competition.  These sporting rules are totally different from the rules implemented by the Olympic recognized Sport Karate and therefore, it is the earnest desire and hope of PUKKO that it should not be miscontrued by fellow martial arts groups to be duplicating or the least,  competing against the  National Sport Association/Federation of Karate recognized by the Philippine Oympic Committee and the government's Philippine Sports Commission.  On the contrary, it is the PUKKO's desire to establish and maintain cordial relationships not only with such national olympic's recognized Karate entities but importantly, with those  groups espousing martial arts disciplines in the spirit of friendship and harmony. After all, all types of martial arts discipline regardless of styles are generally geared towards the same goal - the development of strong character and self-enlightenment.  Harmony and peace are essential and the ultimate goals why individuals practice Martial Arts. It is incumbent therefore that the practitioners must first be in harmony with their ownselves for it is burdensome to harmonize with others if the individual himself is not in harmony with his ownself. Harmonizing with ownselves is attained simply by purging false pride, envies, anger and hatred and all those negative attributes that beset the hearts of the practicing individuals.

Premised on these guiding principles that the PUKKO maintains a highly professional and democratic processes to exist in harmony and peace, one of which is a non-restriction policy to member-organizations who desire to participate in other non-PUKKO organized or sanctioned sporting events. This is also the PUKKO's rational way to respect the fundamental rights of freedom of its members and maintain non-confrontational and hostile attitudes, in other words, respect,  towards fellow Karate and Martial Arts organizations.

This is the least what the PUKKO can contribute and share  to  achieve peace and harmony to the Philippine's  Karate and Martial arts society.

IF YOU HAVE THE SAME POINT OF VIEWS, CERTAINLY, PUKKO-WUKO PHILIPPINES NEEDS YOU!!!
